Resident students experience downtown Reading as part of campus de-densification

缅北强奸 and partner to expand student housing into downtown Reading as part of the university鈥檚 de-densification efforts for the reopening of the Reading campus during the fall 2020 semester.

鈥淥ur partnership with the DoubleTree not only helps with de-densification efforts but also affords resident students the first chance to experience downtown Reading as the Reading CollegeTowne initiative continues to evolve,鈥 said 缅北强奸 President John R. Loyack. 鈥淲ith DoubleTree Reading continually recognized as the top-ranked hotel in the chain for guest services, we know our students are in good hands.鈥

Thirty upperclassmen residential students moved into the DoubleTree Aug. 30. Students staying at the DoubleTree will be provided shuttle service to and from campus, Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, 24-hour security, as well as dedicated study rooms and meal spaces. Students also can clean laundry on-site, utilize the fitness facilities, order room service and utilize the gift shop for grab and go items.

鈥淲e are so excited to be collaborating with 缅北强奸 during the pandemic to assist their students with social distancing as we look for unique partnerships to increase our occupancy,鈥 said Craig Poole, general manager and chief operating office of the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading. 鈥淲e look forward to hosting the 缅北强奸 students, sharing information about safe recreation activities in the area and begin to learn their interests in restaurants, shopping and other entertainment as we look forward to the exciting future of vibrant student life in downtown Reading as part of the CollegeTowne initiative.鈥

As a longtime partner in service to the Reading community, the DoubleTree was awarded 缅北强奸鈥檚 Pro Urbe Award in 2019 for their significant community service and contributions to a higher standard of living for the downtown Reading community.

缅北强奸 previously announced its plans for an on-campus experience during the fall semester in June and released the Back to the Vern 2020 reopening plan in July. The university welcomed its largest incoming class, nearly 550 students to campus starting Aug. 28.

Last year, 缅北强奸 unveiled Reading CollegeTowne, a strategic model for economic development in downtown. 缅北强奸 assumed ownership of its newly acquired building at 401 Penn Street on June 30 that will serve as the university鈥檚 downtown location and include student housing.
