Program bridges engineering expertise with leadership skills to meet industry demand

Applications for this innovative program, offered by the John R. Post School of Engineering, are now open for the fall 2025 semester.

The program鈥檚 integration of technical expertise with ethical leadership and data-driven decision-making, will empower graduates to become innovative leaders in their fields.鈥
While fostering technical excellence, the program recognizes the importance of interpersonal skills, effective writing, and impactful presentation abilities - essential traits sought by employers. With a focus on upskilling, the program is tailored for individuals with technical backgrounds, offering a blend of managerial insight and hands-on technical expertise. As the digital landscape evolves, graduates emerge as leaders capable of not only understanding and implementing emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, informatics and cybersecurity, but also inspiring and leading diverse teams towards innovation and sustainable success.

The program was developed with input from local industry partners, underscoring the emphasis on meeting the needs of the regional workforce.

Key courses in the curriculum include:
- Process Improvement and Applied Analytics with Lean Six Sigma: This course will cover basic quality concepts, quality theories, and quality standards. Quality tools introduced include ISO 9000, total quality tools, quality function deployment, statistical process control, and Six Sigma.
- Artificial Intelligence, Informatics and Cybersecurity: Students will learn how to use data to make decisions, create easy-to-interpret graphics, and secure their data. Popular industrial software (e.g., Azure, JMP, etc.) will be employed for hands-on experience.
- IOT, Simulation and Digital Twins: This course gives an overview of the Industry 4.0 concepts of the Internet of Things (IoT), Simulation, and Digital Twins. Students will use popular simulation software (e.g., Arena, Simul8) to conduct simulations of processes and process improvement.
With a strong emphasis on Industry 4.0, graduates will be equipped to lead in diverse roles across industries that prioritize technological advancement and innovation including as project managers, operations managers, product liaisons, quality improvement managers and product managers.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the range of jobs available with a Master of Science in Engineering Management is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033. The median salary for Architectural and Engineering Managers is $165,370.
